The Challenge

As part of a major modernization program for long-distance passenger coaches, the client sought to enhance onboard digital services and operational efficiency. The goal was to provide reliable, high-speed internet for passengers while ensuring secure communication between onboard systems and the operator’s private cloud. The solution also needed to optimize roaming costs across multiple countries and comply with strict IT security policies.

The Solution

Passengera equipped 60 upgraded passenger coaches with its G7 multi-service gateway, a central platform for managing connectivity and data synchronization. Each unit integrates three LTE-A modems and Wi-Fi access points to deliver fast and stable internet throughout the journey. The system can host up to 12 SIM cards, allowing the operator to intelligently manage data usage and minimize roaming charges. Data limits can be configured per country and even per coach class for complete cost control and flexibility.

To ensure secure operations, Passengera deployed its Management & Monitoring Suite directly in the client’s own data center. This setup provides full visibility and control over the entire connectivity ecosystem while remaining fully compliant with the client’s internal IT security standards.

The Result

The implementation of Passengera’s G7 solution has transformed the onboard experience for passengers and improved operational reliability. Travelers now enjoy consistent, high-speed Wi-Fi access, while the operator benefits from secure data management, optimized connectivity costs, and a scalable foundation for future digital services.
